Hanging Posters are a short term medium suspended from the ceiling down the centre aisle inside the car. Typically these posters are displayed for two or three days. Available in either B3-wide(twice the width of B3), these posters are well suited to imparting time sensitive content such as magazine content, new product and opening announcement campaigns. Recently, national advertising campaigns have started to utilize multiple posters per car to more intensively promote their products and services.

Over Window Posters

Over Window Posters

Over Window Posters (sometimes known as 'Framed Posters') are located above the luggage racks and in line with the windows of the car. Their cost-performance is high and these posters are commonly bought for longer running campaigns, typically one poster per car for one month. Please note, that the size and specs of this media varies.

Door-side Posters

Door-side Posters

Because these posters are placed directly in the line of vision of passengers as they gather around the doors, this medium is very popular. Generally suitable for detailed content, these posters are often B3 size and displayed for 7 to 14 days. Some railway companies offer monthly or annual rental of this space too. Irregular shaped or sized posters are also sometimes available.

Over Door Posters

Over Door Posters

These posters are located in the area with the highest concentration of people at times of congestion. Moreover, the media being located over the door gains a high attention rate. Monthly displays are common, but depending on the railway, yearly display may also be obtainable. Over Door Posters are very popular and may be difficult to obtain. Size and specifications differ depending on the railway company.

There are various standards of sticker, such as window stickers, twin window stickers (pasted on both the left and right side of a window), door stickers (pasted on the glass of both doors) and others. Stickers are commonly placed for a one-month campaign, and can be either single or double sided depending on the railway company. The media is not large, but fall naturally into the line of sight when viewing the scenery outside. This medium also has a high attention ration. Often these media are used to promote food and drink products, cosmetics and temporary staffing. Speciality stickers are also possible in this media (3D images, more complicated types) depending on the railway company.

LCD Ad-screens

These LCD screens are a new medium from which an exceptionally high rate of attention can be expected. The screens are chiefly available on trains in the central area of Tokyo, and offer the possibility of using moving images in your transit campaign. Being silent displays, they lend themselves to quizzes, fortune telling and weather news. The JR Yamanote Line now offers 15 inch displays built into the car doors. These Ad-Screens have a very good reputation especially around rush hours and school times.

Repetition is one reason for the great attention rate accorded to hand strap advertising. Obvious from whichever door one may board the train, and a media that the audience physically comes into contact with, hand strap ads are extremely effective for showing short messages such as web site URLs. It might be called a "train-jack" or multiple ad. As a unified expression, whole interior advertising can be used to powerfully execute campaign openings and brand awareness announcements. Exterior Media

Exterior Media

Exterior Media takes many forms, but put simply is the application of a sticker to the outside of a train. These stickers can be from B2 sized ones up to the complete 'wrapping' of a train. Sizes, permitted ad content, and campaign duration differ depending on the railway companies. This media can be particularly effective when promoting large items (such as cars) by virtue of their sheer size.
